I just finished reading this glorious novel - I am perplexed by the negative reviews. I devour great literature, and the writing is brilliant. I immediately became invested in all of the characters. Franzen describes the travails suffered by the Lambert family with wit, compassion, and outright hilarity. Having an expansive vocabulary will enhance and facilitate the reading, but I am a lover of wordsmiths, so I utilized the Kindle dictionary as needed. For those who complained about the book's length, Tolstoy would not be a good pick for you. If you like John Irving give "The Corrections" a try - you will not be disappointed. I have read hundreds of books in my long life and this one rates in my top ten. Now, on to Faulker's, "As I Lay Dying."
