Has everyone gone mad? This is the worse movie I’ve ever seen. I watched this because it was Oscar nominated & I had a hard time making it to the end. But because it was an Oscar contender I forced myself to finish it. Then tonight watching the Oscar’s & seeing it win so many awards was a shock. The academy has either forgotten what a good movie is or has lowered their standards to the point that nonsense like this movie is considered good. I usually try not to leave bad reviews but this movie does not deserve any of these 5 star ratings it has received. Such a good cast of actors whose talents were wasted on this movie. In other reviews people have said it made them cry they were so moved by it. Yes I cried to think I could have spent 2 & 1/2 hours watching something that made sense instead of this. For those of you who loved it more power to you & enjoy watching it over again.

Hollywood has always made movies & TV shows from books. They rarely follow the book they just use the general idea of the book. So most times the audience who has read the books will be disappointed in the movies that are made from books. I haven’t read these books so I can’t really compare the book vs movie. I prefer to see if the movie draws me into the story they want to tell. Are there characters in it that I become supportive of & care about? Are there villains that I love to hate? Is it something I’m so engrossed in I would want to watch it over & over again? With they being said the answer is NO to all the things I look for in a good series with The Winter King. Even so I’m still watching it only because I hate to give up on any show I start to watch. I especially love period pieces so I really want to give this a chance. I’m always hoping that it’s going to get better. That it’s just taking a little longer to get the story’s ground work laid. That there’s still hope that this series will be good even if it’s not by the book. 🤷‍♀️
