Justin Miller

Possibly the most generic pirate movie I have ever seen. The score tries to sound exciting but does nothing to drive the action or add a hint of drama. The voice actors delivered lines just at the bar of what could be deemed passable, without actually deepening the uniqueness of characters at all. The visuals are of high quality 👌, but still ride on the edge of feeling like a mix of half animated movie, half modern children's show. Every token role of the film is occupied by obviously recognizable but still underdelivered stereotype. The little girl was probably the best voice actor, which isn't a surprise due to the personality type they wrote for her. Every possible action and plot point in the movie was easily predictable either seconds or full moment before they happened. Every stereotypical attempt at humor or looking cool was tried in this movie. Every attempt failed. Tldr: visuals and choreography are pretty damn good. Characters, story, foreshadowing, and quirks all fall pretty short of being memorable.
