This movie has almost nothing to do with the comics. This version of the Joker does not match his comic book counter part in the slightest. This could easily be a stand alone with a different title and it would have no impact in the story what so ever. It also contradicts the comics and does not come close to matching the main story. Just read Joker wiki entry, not even close.
