This film is an absolute insult to the great work of fiction that is Pride and Prejudice. While Kiera Knightley may be a good actress, her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennett is abysmal. The settings of the movie show the Bennett family as poor people who live in a pigsty, which was certainly not the case. And apparently none of them had hair pins because the atrocity of the "bangs" in the regency period is almost as bad as how horribly the Bennett sisters are dressed. They dressed in the same disheveled way they did at home, at balls. Appalling. Kiera Knightley plays Elizabeth as an ill-mannered, over-expressive girl, which she definitely was not. Darcy is the most unexciting and lackluster of all the Darcy's I have come across. It was painful to watch this rendition after watching the masterpiece that is the 1995 BBC version. Watch that instead. It goes to show that you really cannot do justice to the book in two hours. Terrible. 1/10.
