The movie starts with a reminder that to what length Manu would go for his love (and her singing)
The irony of life is that a desperate heart will seduce the mind!
It may make one into a creepy stalker or a guardian angel - it all depends on which side you are on.
The entire team (direction, camera, music, set design) has used so many tools and techniques to express the emotions that, I don’t think one viewing will do the justice - so many metaphors, so many windows, so many mirrors and glasses.
It squeezed my heart when Manu and Priya met (the only time in the movie - or not). Its an epitome of how two people can say a lot, without saying anything (or telling lies)
Surabhi tries a different color in Manu’s life and the moment this happens is such a transmission from blue to red. There isn’t another (better) way to show that.
I was rooting for more of Surabhi in Manu’s life, but it’s not meant to be! The irony here is that Manu will never know her real name (which is all he cared for, not her past), same way I/we will never know what was in that letter Priya gave to Manu in the moving bus (in Side-A). It leaves us with lots of curiosity and questions, but it’s not even relevant!
Manu never liked the idea of a house next to train tracks - but that’s where Priya lives her life now and that’s where Manu lives his too (to stalk her!)
Priya loved lots of lights in the house, but she is living in a house where you can barely see any light and Manu’s life by itself is dark!
There are so many beautiful things:
- The way Manu brings light into Priya’s life (and that smile!)
- The moment when Manu realizes that he needs to see Priya’s life differently.
- When Surabhi and Manu are together, they are asking each other - “what are we doing here?”
- Surabhi’s outburst in the middle of the crowd
- The way they have portrayed what we see when Manu and Surabhi are together and what Manu sees
- The action scene in the end
Everyone acted as if they were living those characters and complemented each other, just like how the camera and music elevated this movie to another level - just amazing!
The movie ends with Priya realizing that she has forgotten the name of the dream she had.
The irony of life is not that you can’t forget, but that you can!
