A powerful, highly readable, and deeply moving account of a Jewish family almost completely wiped out in the Holocaust. Though deemed a novel, almost everything in the book is true, except for the changing of some peoples’ names. A 400+ page book focusing on such a horrendous piece of our recent history is not something I’d imagined I would look forward to reading, but I honestly couldn’t wait to find time each day to return to it. It is one of the best books I have ever read.
