I really wanted this show to be good as I love Lord of the Rings. Thus far the show seems like it is trying really hard to be smart, but lacks the charm and genious of Tolkien with outright baffling actions that throw me out of my immersion in the show. It goes to show that you can be ambitious and sink money into something, but that does not mean it will work out. The dialog seems pretentious and the hubris of Galadriel thus far makes her an unlikable character that will hopefully be humbled and learn the grace of the character we loved that was still a powerful character in the movies that was almost universally revered. As smart as the show writers are clearly trying to be, no one is going to buy that even the toughest character can swim an entire ocean, and we are supposed to respect this character as if she is the brightest person in any room she walks into after that. It looks stunning and I am rooting for the show to be better, but I am disappointed sonfar that despite all the money sunk into this show, I am often bored and puzzled there were not more lore experts, or the best dialog writers from the top literary minds money can buy. Please take the criticism seriously and deliver us something enjoyable in the future if not this season.
