I am a student, and what I can say is that you need the perfect mindset to love this book. I had to write essays and read several chapters every night, but I still truly enjoyed reading the book. My teacher explained each sentence throughly and connected each chapter to each well. This is how I understood A Separate Peace, unlike other students. There is a special, deep meaning of the theme of this book that catches my eye. Everybody wears a mask (whether you're Gene, hiding jealousy behind yours, or you're Finny, hiding the truth behind his.), and one must overcome it to evolve. The detailed, vivid descriptions the author utilizes captures the identity of the students of Devon excellently. A Separate Peace is a clever masterpiece. But I cannot stress enough to reader's that they need to analyze this book deeply. Or else they will not enjoy the book and only walk away with confusion.
