I should have realised it when the Guardian gave this 4 stars. I should have twigged from the opening scene of 30 seconds of black screen followed by a minute of watching exposed internal organs pulsating. Why didn’t I switch off when the two surgeons were walking slowly down the hospital corridor forcanother minute talking like robots ………. And it went downhill from there!
A film can get away with a ridiculous plot, but when you fail to build empathy with any of the characters, when you employ lifeless robotic dialogue, when you superimpose exaggerated horror music over the top - well you get something unwatchable. I stayed to the end only to be sure it didn’t manage a redeeming plot twist at the end. SPOILER ALERT! There wasn’t one.
