I played the games myself and was super excited to see everything I loved about Uncharted on the big screen when I heard they were making a movie. I didn't have high hopes after seeing the trailers and they were even further dashed when seeing the movie.
If viewing this movie from the perspective of somebody who has never played the games, they did a fantastic job. The action scenes were amazing, the design was excellent, and the soundtrack was awesome. But as somebody who has played all four games, this movie was a huge letdown. It felt like they skimmed a Wikipedia summary on the first three and only played the fourth. Certain things in the movie were not as they were in the games and it bugged me that they could get those wrong (on purpose or not) when they had the information readily available to them.
Tom did an excellent job getting the personality of Nate down- but I just couldn't see him as anything other than Tom. He looks far too young to be playing Nate and makes him come across as a young teenager rather than an adult, if I'm honest. I didn't like the path they took with Sully, though I do think Mark did an excellent job playing him regardless. What I did like about the movie, was that no matter where they were setting-wise, it felt like it was a level that could have been pulled straight from the games. But there were so many marks that missed that I was genuinely disappointed coming out of the theater.
