The Northman is probably the second best movie of 2022 all things considered (the first would go to The Menu). I am honestly shocked to see this many negative reviews, most of the complaints being "it's too long" and "it has no plot". I mean, seriously? The legend the film is based on is the legend of Prince Amleth, which in turn served as Shakespeare's inspiration for Hamlet. I am not without some criticism in which Willem Dafoe and Bjork are rather underutilized, but Alexander Skarsgard, Anya Taylor-Joy (who is beautiful and one of the best actresses of this gen, see The Witch also directed by Robert Eggers for her in the main role), and Claes Bang were amazing in this. Ignore the unfair negative reviews by tasteless idiots.
