I went to see The Flash, at first, because of Michael Keaton being back as my favorite past Batman - and Keaton was better than ever. But, what I did not expect, though, was just how blown away I was by the 10/10 performance delivered by its young star, Ezra Matthew Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash. MILLER OWNS THIS MOVIE !! Indeed, he captivates even.
What a remarkable actor this young guy is. One can't help but love him in this role. He is, by turns, charming, vulnerable, plucky, amusing, and even charismatic in his own somewhat quirky way.
He may have a strange personal life, but, by golly, when the director here said "action", Miller really brought home the bacon on screen. It is seemingly effortless with him. In my books he is perhaps the best young actor in the business today, bar none. What a talent he has.
Forget all the shallow carping that has been unjustly leveled against this film. Yes, the CGI may have been a tad underwhelming for something purported to have cost upwards of 200 million dollars to make. But, notwithstanding, Miller's performance, in the dual role of Barry Allen, at the age of 18, and also as a 28 year old version of this same character, shines above all that.. It alone is worth the price of admission and then some. I left the theatre wanting to see him play Barry Allen AGAIN in a The Flash 2. This movie has a real heart to it, and will tug at your strings big-time - all thanks to a Miller who is at the top of his game here.
Miller deserves FAR more credit for his performance than the bad rap he has got thus far because of his personal issues off screen. I hope Warner Bros. paid him well for it, because he doesn't disappoint. Folks ... you'll just love him in this role. Like me, you'll want to adopt him, too !!
Who knew a geeky young guy with a charming quirkiness about him could be just so darn charismatic, and even sexy.
