I was skeptical about watching this as I am tired of aging actors being portrayed as death and dying candidates. But it was Thanksgiving and thought it might be a new sentimental movie good for the day...something light.
While it did portray end of life issues for the main character it was done with a newness and grace of all the characters in a way that I loved. It had reminders of Dreyfuss' "Close Encounters" character; a man who had to do what a man had to do to be unique in being chosen for a new mission in life despite his origins, age not withstanding. It validated the experience of a person's life and how it continues to be valuable throughout time.
Yes it was sentimental. Perfect for the day in which we celebrate those things and persons we are grateful for. Pass the turkey!
