If you have read one Dan Brown book, you have read them all. His writing is hideously formulaic. I rated it 3 stars because the first time you read any of the books, it’s good and keeps you on the edge of your seat. However if you’ve read the Da Vinci code or Angels and Demons (both unique in plot from this book), you see the “twist” coming from miles away. I won’t say when I recognized it so as to not completely spoil, but if you’ve read any books of his, you know the telltale signs of duplicitous ness.
Deception Point in and of itself is a fine story. But it’s completely worthless to read when the hook of the book is given completely away by the author’s style. It would be like going to watch an M. Night Shamylan marathon, you would start calling the “shocking twist” before you even see any hints at it.
