A well written and engaging story. The characters are well formed and the story provides a clear and insightful telling of life in the city of York at a time of social change. The display of social perspectives demonstrates how attitudes towards immigration and other cultures and how attitudes affected the institutional fabric of life before the modern concept of social prejudice. Well worth a read.
