If your idea of a good time is downing a bottle of Maker’s Mark while hitting yourself with a hammer, this film’s for you.
One obviously mad lighthouse keeper employs a sullen former logger to perform manual labor. From the newcomer’s maniacal killing of an ocean gull to the lighthouse keeper’s nocturnal emissions dripping down from the lantern room, there’s plenty of twisted, craven behavior throughout. The plot is an unsurprising descent into a demonic climax. The scenery is desolate, and the music is from hell.
The actors, however, perform their roles extremely well despite the disgusting characters they play. I wanted to appreciate the film but, it just left me with the dry heaves.
