Sadly I did not enjoy this book like I did all the other Reacher books I have read. In fact, I stopped after chapter 17, so this is the first one I didn’t finish. There wasn’t enough action but, it didn’t really feel like Reacher, what he would say at times didn’t sound like the Reacher I have come to know. Also, there were little holes in the story eg chapter 9 p45/46 Jed had a wad of notes in his back pocket as he got onto the bus.. chapter 17 as he was getting off the bus his backpack had been stolen and he was on the street searched his pocket for coins as he was starving.. what happened the wad of cash in his back pocket ? It never got explained. (I could have told myself that the ‘surfer-looking dude’ he met briefly at the station in chapter 9 might have pick-pocketed him or he put it in his back pack before falling asleep on the bus but this is where I lost interest and stopped reading).
