I read all 4 books by JK Franks of the Catalyst series. Of course book #3 wasn't a direct tie to the previous 2 books, but the loop was closed in book 4, Ghost County. The prose of Mr. Franks is efficient yet descriptive. Chapters are short, which allows you to read "one more chapter" and then find yourself 20 pages further along, lol. I plan on buying some of his other stories as I enjoyed the content, characters, setting, and details of the writing. I am a big fan of Stuart Woods and James Patterson. While JK Franks writings are a different product, the writing is just as good.
