"A.R.M" is an action-adventure film set in the backdrop of Kerala, India. Directed by Jithin Laal and starring Tovino Thomas in multiple roles, the movie weaves together three timelines centered around a mysterious artifact called the Chiyyothi Vilakku. The story follows Kunjikelu, a Kalaripayattu warrior; Maniyan, a skilled thief; and Ajayan, an electrician - all played by Tovino Thomas. Their lives intertwine with the powerful Chiyyothi Vilakku, an idol forged from a fallen meteor. As the narrative unfolds, themes of caste discrimination, power struggles, and personal redemption come to the forefront. Tovino Thomas delivers a stellar performance, particularly in his portrayal of Maniyan, the "psycho thief." His versatility in embodying three distinct characters across different time periods is commendable. The supporting cast, including Krithi Shetty in her Malayalam debut and Surabhi Lakshmi, complement the lead well. Cinematographer Jomon T. John captures the essence of Kerala beautifully, with striking wide shots that transport the audience to a bygone era. The climax scenes, in particular, showcase his skill in framing and composition. While the plot may remind viewers of similar films like "Meesa Madhavan," "A.R.M" stands out with its supernatural elements and engaging narrative. The unnecessary use of 3D is a minor drawback, but it doesn't significantly detract from the overall experience. For fans of action-adventure cinema with a touch of historical fiction, "A.R.M" offers an entertaining watch. Jithin Laal's direction, combined with Dhibu Ninan Thomas's captivating music, creates an immersive experience that's best enjoyed on the big screen.
