This movie not only puts an end to the speculation that arose at the series’ conclusion, but it reminds us that once you’re in the line of work Jessie and Walter pursued, it’s very difficult, if not downright impossible, to escape unscathed. Those who are not physically afflicted bear the emotional scars of a life that few live to tell tales about in their old age.
The use of flashbacks was effective and the pace of the movie was reminiscent of Vince Gilligan’s best episodes from the series. Plenty of action, evolution of characters (Jesse has some serious balls now) and plot twists typical of the series to appease hardcore fans and newcomers alike.
It was great to get a glimpse of the Breaking Bad universe one last time. At the end, it was us, the fans, driving off into the sunset. Perfect closure as we say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to be intimately acquainted with over the years.
