A BIG SURPRISE for me. I vowed never to watch A Christmas Carol ever again. However, my granddaughter wanted to watch it even after my downplayed Cliff notes. It intrigued her 6 yo sensibilities. I was stuck. But then we meet Prudence, Marley’s dog. And it’s a musical with pretty music. Nice singing. They balance the dialogue between Dickensian and modern, between making a statement and comic relief. The animation is a mixture of blocky and intricate which adds to the mystical element as Scrooge is zipped around in time and space. Even so, this is hopefully the last time I have to watch A Christmas Carol.

Extremely well told and great acting. Use of film color helps viewer move easily between time periods. The special healing powers of the natives was clichet and wasn't necessary to the actual account of the investigation.
