The first game is one of my favourite games of all time. This sequel had the chance to build on that with the unresolved conflict between Joel and Ellie providing ample opportunity to weave a much more engaging story. It falls flat and is heavy-handed with its manipulation in trying to make you care for Abby. Gameplay is excellent and The Last of Us 2 is an excellent Swan song for the PS4 in terms of graphical prowess. But ultimately, this game fails in the much more important category, the story.
