I'm a sci-fi nerd, and I really wish that someone would make a WOTW movie set in 1902, as it was originally. However, every adaptation is pretty good, even (and especially) the prog album by Jeff Wayne. Laugh if you want to.
As for the Spielberg Tom Cruise version, I think it succeds on every level. Cruise is great, and Spielberg's vision is close to the source material.

I don't understand why there's so much hatred for this movie. Not all of the jokes work, but the movie is generally very funny. Farley does Farley, Perry is a brilliant straight man. I watch this one once a year. Highly underrated.

The man was a genius. Every album sounds different, but it's still him, he had just the right combination of talent, intelligence, and charisma. Everything from pop to hard rock and much of it experimental that most people are unaware of. He was his own genre, his impact on music can not be overstated.
This album helped to get me through a very rough time.
