The movie was completely incoherent. I wasn’t sure if it was about the mother/daughter relationship, Barbie wanting to be human, or the Mattel executives trying to make sure Barbie doesn’t escape from Barbie Land. None of these plot lines manifested into anything, and it ends with Barbie at the gynecologist? Ummm ok. The only clear theme that was present throughout the film was that the writers very much want you to believe that men are stupid, egotistical, misogynistic maniacs who need women to save us from ourselves. This movie had a real shot at instilling healthy moral values regarding the way in which men and women can work together to love and respect each other while bringing together the best of what each gender has to offer to make the world a better place. Instead it was used as a pity party and a chance to make men feel bad about themselves.
