My experience was painfully slow, to the point I’ve given up on seeing the game become fun.
A story that’s slow to let you do anything, dialogue options that are meaningless, only there to show you how little choice you have. The bland character designs I’ve come to associate with most Square Enix games and so on.
The main point that killed the game for me is when I was told I needed to make a hammer, and to go into the forest to collect resources. I would need 10 rock lumps to make a hammer. Day one, I walk in, wondering how I’ll manage to deal with monsters, turns out I’ve had a sword the whole time, not ideal since I’m not sure I’ll get to craft my own, instead having a generic anime sword the whole time.
I collect three rocks in total from all harvest points, then see the way ahead is blocked by ominous figures talking and not noticing me. “Ok! I’ll come back tomorrow after the story clears them out”
The next day I do my farming tasks, the slow dialogue quest, and enter the forest again. I get three rocks and discover the two figures are still there. It dawned on me, I will have to go two more days to complete this quest and advance anywhere. All for what reviews (even the high rated ones) tell me is a pretty average farming/fighting game. I couldn’t do it
