In all honesty the movie as a whole was amazing. I went from laughing out loud, to sobbing (multiple times), to laughing again. That certain type of wholesome relatability you always just get from Bridget’s character really transferred into this final installment and i love that they kept her true to herself, despite how much different her life may look now!!!… HOWEVER, I do have a qualm or two. Without giving away too many spoilers i’ll just say this, if you know Bridget, you know that girl is going to start falling in love with somebody right? Welllll I didn’t too much care for the “other option”. You know, the number 2 pick. I can’t quite put my finger on it but comparing him to literally any of her other love interests, i just couldn’t get into it. I didn’t feel an ounce of chemistry between them, but then again maybe I was just too hurt over Mark to really give it a chance but then I can’t even say that because that young boy had me very hopeful for our girl. Of course this is all just my own personal opinion and what I took out of the movie, and mind you I had ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE this movie was coming out TODAY I literally just so happened to be in the mood to rewatch the Bridget Jones’ series and I happen to stubble onto google and low and behold, there’s a 4th installment 😂 I say all that to say, I feel as though my perception on who she ends up with is very biased based on the fact that all day while watching these movies (despite knowing and admittedly forgetting how the movies end) i’ve really been rooting for Mark Darcy, so to see the direction the final installment took with not only his character, but their relationship, kind of really had a deep affect on me in terms of how I connected to the storyline.
