Its incredible. The creativity and art in her words, the meanings, the pictures inbetween the lines truly are as abhorrent, agonising and traumatic as i can only imagine her experiences have been.
I bought this book for my partner who has also had a significant amount of trauma and experiences because of well, men. A victim of our society and its draconic nature deep set even still in the 21st century.
Im writing this review because i also read the book, and its frustrating seeing too many people completely misunderstand and misinterpret literally everything this COLLECTION OF POEMS stands for.
Megan didn't do this for you or us (as men) and neither did she release this book solely about MGK as I've seen many a people assume. No, its about her experiences throughout her life, with many a different man and society and likely the media industry aswell. Yes, there are a few poems about MGK, but even they prove to highlight issues he struggles with too, from her caring perspective. Also, why shouldnt she include those poems!?!? Its her book, about her experiences.
I think this collection of poems is highly important to so many women that have had similar life experiences. So many women whose mental status and thought patterns become so distorted with such systematic abuse... But i also think its important for men to read too. Because this absolutely insane stuff still happens! So blatantly, so commonly TODAY!.
Its fantastic Megan! Its absolutely depressing and i am desperately apologetic that you, and women as a whole deal with these experiences. But its such an important book! And i even like that the titles and their delivery are also poetic in themselves!
