Instead of feeling exciting or inspiring, many of the sci-fi elements come off as far-fetched and overly convenient, which took away from the sense of realism and tension the movie seemed to be aiming for. While the movie has some impressive visuals and a few emotional moments that land well, overall, it feels like it overcomplicates itself and loses the tight, thrilling focus that made the original Wandering Earth so memorable.
