As a mother, i watched this movie in horror, because the excellent acting was so relatable. This is how I would feel and behave if thrust into this nightmare. The sheer panic, needing to scream hysterically and the hopelessness you would feel under the weight of natures violence. People complain about the fact that the family is white, but you don’t think about this watching the movie. It’s simply about one family’s fight to survive against seemingly insurmountable odds. And from what I read, the real mother chose Naomi Watts for her acting, regardless of her skin color The pathos rips your heart. Not just what the family endured, but all those involved. The Thai people were the heroes, helping others while suffering themselves. THAT is the message I take from this.
