This was high on my list of favorite stories, I read the book and watched the first mini-series several times, great stuff! I was excited when I discovered there was an updated remake, the potential for modern graphics and special effects could have made this one of the most amazing shows ever and I couldn't wait to watch. The original mini series veered away from the book, as is common, but worked quite well; the acting and characters were compelling and interesting. What a great disappointment this new version was! They veered further away from the original story in what appeared to be a contrived effort to be politically correct and include all the modern wacko concepts of "wokeism". The acting, and actors, were horrible and the whole thing had a cheap production value akin to a daytime drama. A waste of time!
