I enjoyed it. I was glad that they presented a TV version of the character that wasn't as different from the source material as Arrow. I think it's comparable to the Flash and Supergirl in that sense. Batwoman is not a gun-toting vigilante inspired by the Batman; she's his cousin with a mission of her own but shares his desire to protect Gotham, too.
The show is exciting and not dependent upon the Batman (I'm not a fan of how Arrow "raided" the Bat -mythos and found its Oliver Queen unrecognizable but I do appreciate what the show's success has allowed) and that's OK. I think Ruby Rose and Rachel Skarsten are fantastic and I really am looking forward to seeing how this story plays out. Of all the CW DC shows Batwoman has had the smoothest start, as far as establishing it's direction and introducing its cast of characters is concerned. It looks like it's already going to be a dark and action-packed show. And, already, I can tell that it'll be more grounded and recognizable than the nightmare that was Gotham.
