This was a money grab movie made with the intention of only using the Minecraft community as a means for profit. Not only was it just plain stupid, it did not do justice to the game its audience grew up on and has dissected for years. The people who made this movie clearly did not care about it or the fans, they cared about meaningless one liners and cringe in order to promote and create it. It is a joke, and it is being treated as such (case in point all the copy paste 5-star reviews blatantly making fun of the movie). It also had no substance, the connection between characters was made-up and not actually built upon, leaving you feeling empty when they were supposedly having “deep cut” moments. The only connection they got was the strange homoerotic tension between Jack Black and Jason Mamoa (I’ll admit it was funny and one of the only redeeming quality of this movie). And, not to be that person, but they didn’t do the game justice at all, like, how are you going to ignore the best parts about the game and overlook genuine gameplay and thoughts. Take the Elytra scene for example, supposedly Steve has only fought one enderman and almost died doing so, but has at least 3 (as mentioned/shown) Elytra’s, even though it is well known that the only way to gain that item is by going to the end, something you need multiple Ender pearls to do. Idk, I’m disappointed, but no one cares, so obviously I need to rant on the internet. I will say though, they did a good job at honoring the creators who made the game so great.
