Someone bump Tom the spoiler troll's post from the top. It's a good book, it's never going to go down as a litterally classic but I think it's a great first novel from a non-fiction author.
As one reviewer said it was "very timely. " I agree it was on many levels. I don't fault Owens for some aspects of the book being unrealistic. I found one of the themes of the book was to point out the fact that we still have a society where people are thrown away, or ignored. We've undoubtedly lost people who could have otherwise been brilliant contributors but for our many prejudices.
