Maareesan is a powerful, unforgettable thriller. Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil deliver electric performances, bringing depth and nuance to very flawed, complex characters. The film takes its time in the first half to build their journey—road trip, bonding, moral tension—and then pivots into something darker and more gripping, with surprises that hit hard.
The emotional core is strong, especially how it handles themes of justice, memory (Alzheimer’s), and what people do when pushed to extremes. The direction and storytelling are thoughtful, and even though the pace is slow at times, it works—makes the turn that much more impactful.
Overall, Maareesan is one of the rare films that stays with you long after the credits. A must-watch for thriller lovers.
