I run TTRPGS, (Traveller, D&D, Cyberpunk 2020, etc.)
So I have researched basic rules on how to craft a believable ecosystem, and this show doesn't do it.
If you have a skunk/octopus that can spew a cloud of acid that repels/kills elephant tongue monsters then that's an apex predator.
A gecko with a little green man head isn't an alien, it's something with very little imagination trying to make an alien.
Also the first scene of the survivors was logically jarring, how do you learn to slice into an elephants side, start it up like a passenger plane, to get spat out with a light source?
And another smaller gripe is the manual, why would a spaceship that has to watch how much weight/mass it has, carry thick heavy manuals.
It seems like someone WANTED to be creative, hired good artists, then failed to do ANY research.
I'd really like people to understand how and WHY this isn't good.
This doesn't measure up to ANYTHING by Miyazaki, Naussica had a rich ecosystem with consequences, this has a bunch of randoms that feel more like the world was designed by throwing darts at a board with random body parts written on it.
In short, Jarring, needlessly confusing, and way too slow.
I feel sad that people think this is good/great writing and directing.
