Simon Hocking

This was a fun programme to watch with my 12 year old boy. Downsides were- - Yet another American production with the main bad guy having an English accent (groan/yawn) - bizarre male roles- all were wierdly wet and feeble - it seems to borrow a lot from the goonies (East Asian tech character and a podgy guy?) - for all the money they obviously put in, the writing was inexcusably poor - in places exceptionally bad - the pitch was all over the place. At times felt very very childish & aimed at 7 year olds - at others it went uncomfortably dark. Upsides- - great special effects - Jude law does his best with the poor script - good acting from the children too - the pace was generally good and there was a good variety of environments, which felt believable and polished - although superficial the plot was generally fun
