This is a very informative book of the broad impact of the detention of our citizens of Japanese descent or immigration at a time of unfounded fear and racism. It documents the difference in the choices and situations of the detained and the communities that they were taken from. A good companion book to this is We are not Strangers by Josh Tuininga, showing a small quiet effort of others to help their neighbors, who would be lawfully put in these camps.

This writer is so engaging and likeable. His honest story is very reflective of what has transpired in our country. It is a reminder that unless we are native Americans, we all came from Away, look different, have different beliefs, and yet are what makes this country a great place.
