If all you want to do is enjoy giant monsters beating each other to death, this movie is amazing when it comes to all those action sequences and well worth your time.
If you want any of the other elements that can be found in movies, like plot, character development, etc, then you're gonna want to rely heavily on the fast forwarding button if you're catching it on HBO Max.
The actors do an adequate job, particularly the little hearing impaired girl, but there's only so much they can do with a nonsensical script. At one point, Millie Bobby Brown's character proclaims "we have to stop this" as she's staring at a screen that says "100% complete". That scene is totally ending up in Honest Trailers or Pitch Meeting.
Honestly there's just more plot holes than there is plot, and I can write an entire essay on it, but that's not what anybody is really looking for in this movie. All the weak plot points only serve as a method to get Kong and Godzilla in the same space so they can duke it out in epic fashion. Man, those scenes really are epic!
So grab some popcorn, turn off any analytical aspect of your brain, and enjoy the action.
