SPOILERS ahead!!
Confused by all the negative reviews. I watch a lot of horror films and there are some terrible ones out there, but this instalment of the Halloween franchise was actually very good. I enjoyed it a lot more than the last couple.
It’s unfortunate that Allison and Corey become such unlikeable characters after what they’ve been through, but it’s understandable that people with such trauma would act in such a toxic way. As much as I wanted Corey to be the good guy, it was interesting to see him almost follow in Michaels footsteps. Was it because Corey was already evil, or maybe Michael possessed him in someway down in the sewer? We don’t get an answer to a few things in this film but I think that’s better. I like that they left some things for us to question.
As for Michaels death, I think Laurie killing him maskless as he is just a man was a very satisfying ending. We see Michael torture Laurie for decades, but this shows us that underneath he is just a man in a mask that can be killed in such ways.
I think maybe people were hoping for a more intense ending to the franchise, but I am happy Michael died the way he did.
I would like to point out that there is a very heavy strobe lighting scene with no warning that appears at the Halloween party in this film. For my fellow epileptics, be aware of this!
