Appalling. A disjointed, disrespectful and despondent comparison to the books. I had hoped to introduce my partner to the books by watching the modern TV adaption, unfortunately I have done the opposite... Where the books by Pullman create a lustrous encapsulating fantasy world, in its stead is a poorly written TV drama designed to attract the masses! The main joy for me taken from on the books was the sense of the unknown, stories developing over many chapters and real character development.. I find the TV adaption a rushed and inconsiderate push to condense a fantastic story into several hard hitting but emotionless episodes!
