There are plenty of well crafted and thorough reviews of this film, analysing why it's not very good, so check those out but when I first saw the trailer for it I thought then it didn't look up to much but since all the Oscar awards I did watch it in case I was missing something. I wasn't! I gave it 45 mins and that was more than enough to confirm I should have stuck to my initial instinct. Very Emperor's New clothes for me, I'm afraid.

Not sure why this story was filmed again really. It brought nothing new to the genre just tired old clichés. It did have an epic feel to it, everything on an impressive scale but unrelentingly po faced and most of the time in the dark (literally) with accompanying irritating music and totally humourless. A very long 2 1/2 hours. Will not be bothering with part 2!
