I couldn't finish this book. Aside from being poorly written, with people behaving in ridiculous ways, I had to quit reading when is seems that the author basically plagiarized Steven King's novel Misery. The basic plot is the very similar, with an incapacitated central character being confined to a basement by a mentally disturbed woman, who like the woman in Misery, was a nurse. Given that the book takes place in Maine, where many of Steven King's novels also take place, the heroine of the book also injures her ankle in a car wreck. The final straw for me is when the anti-heroine goes down to the basement with a hammer to injure the heroine's other leg. I have no idea how this blatant rip-off got by the editor's or why this author wasn't sued by Steven King for plagiarizing his novel, is the biggest mystery of all. I won't waste my time and money on any more of this actor's tripe.
