While the 40 different dinosaur species and special effects were really cool, many of the actors and actresses did not seem to fit their part, resulting in their actions being an unbelievable aspect of human nature.
One example is chopping a fake log that was either CGI, a thin piece of balsa or "easy to break material" made to look real which was two different lengths in the "takes" before the split, not to mention the huge knot in the wood that was replaced with an "irregularity" in the "split take"
(huge knots are very hard to split in one swing of the axe, even for a big man)
Then Dichen Lachman calmly walking away from bullets being shot at her while everyone else is running for their lives, is so unbelievable it sould have been a "deleted scene".
Dinosaurs living in modern centuries is certainly fiction, but the characters and their reactions SHOULD be believable, and as much as I like Arnold Schwarzenegger's son in law, Chris Pratt, when a huge dinosaur eats someone a few feet away from him and he talks on the radio while looking away from the dinosaur before running for his life, that's HUGE unbelievable.
Director's fault! So was the fake-ish looking shot of Chris diving under the rail appearing green screen obvious.
Mamoudou Athi did a great job and did not seem out of place.
Omar Sy should have had more screen time.
As good as Laura Dern was in Jurassic Park, she seemed just as out of place in this movie as Carrie Fisher was in her last Star Wars movie. Maybe they were just being nice to her. I guess that's cool.
Bryce Dallas Howard's character, who screwed up so many times in Jurrastic World that it resulted in lots of people getting killed, turns into an amateur espionage expert and stunt driver?
Then she breaks through a heavy duty steel gate with a thick chain, and the front of the van does not even get dented? Uh huh, right...
DeWanda Wise was actually quite good at some of her scenes like at the black market, but a pilot in an emergency situation? As a pilot myself, it was easy to see that her character looked utterly unconvincing and completely implausible. It was her look, attitude or something, maybe the directors fault, but she was just looking around talking, not flying. Not to mention, bad CGI on the plane crash, starboard wing falls off, and the plane remains level a few seconds before crashing, uh huh, Sure...airplanes always stay level with just one wing!
Jeff Goldblum's character has almost turned into a neurotic imbecile or "wacko" which is mostly expressed in his speech that everyone claps at afterwards. Should have been a deleted scene.
Sir Sam Neill did well.
BD Wong's character was alright, but seemed super passive.
Isabella Sermon is a pretty little girl who's character has turned into a brat. Hope that isn't the case in her future roles.
Campbell Scott's character did not show the assertiveness that you'd think a man in charge should have.
New Character development wasn't all that great.
Two or three stars? OK, 3.
There's more, just not enough typing room.
