Great visuals obviously but it seemed less about going to the moon and more about what being an astronaut does to one’s family. I know in this day and age we have to show more of the woman in these men’s lives and give them good meaty roles to sink their teeth in but for me very little of it rings true. And in one scene they show Armstrong very young son not at all acting like a young boy and more like a man. It’s a film that takes place in 1969 but has its feet firmly planted in the 2020’s.

Started out really good but about the halfway point started to get stupid and got worse every second that past. By the time it ended all I knew is was this really the movie I started watching.

This film falls into a WTF movie. That’s a movie where at times you wonder what you are looking at and if you’re just dreaming you are actually watching this film. It also falls into the what’s it all about. What was the point of this film. Director Coppola directed The Outsiders right before this film and both films are from books by S.E. Hinton. It seems like he had so much fun making the Outsiders that him and Hinton wrote a screenplay for this and just kept filming after The Ouysiders wrapped up. It was filmed in the same location as the earlier film and stared some of the same actors like Matt Dillon and Diane Lane. Don’t mistake this for a continuation of the Outsiders because that it’s not. Not a bad film but somewhat confusing and unnecessary.

A great message that is true now more than ever. Sometimes slow but always moving this film is one of the better dystopian movies from the 1970’s. George Lucas showed us a glimpse of what was to become of him while helping usher in a new wave of filmmakers that included him, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Brian DePalma and Steven Spielberg.

I am so glad they still make movies like this even though it’s 2023 now and this was 20 years ago. We need more movies like this for adults. I got so into the story that I searched on Google Earth and found the train station it was filmed at. Great performances from everyone involved and Peter Dinkledge gives a sad, funny and vulnerable performance as Fin. The lead character. Not a wrong note in the whole film.

I love this show because it’s a reality show that has no drama. No people trying to screw each other. It’s just teams doing their own thing. Sometimes teams even help each other.
