Not the slow, tense, suspenseful horror promised from the marketing and press interviews. Beautifully shot from a director that clearly loves the franchise, but a strong start of great world building and slow pacing with an interesting set up increasingly descends into cringe winky call backs and on the nose references to the other films. Avoiding spoilers but a misjudged character called ‘Rook’ is the moment it lost me. Shame as it had some good ideas and some great moments, and a lot of potential.
For Alien fans, lower your expectations and you might have fun with it? I can’t lie to you about your chances, but you have my sympathy
