In May of 2019 I saw the miniseries "North & South" advertised in a TV listings magazine and as I have a interest in world history I thought I would at least record it on out digibox. About a week later when there wasn't much on TV me and my wife put the first episode on. As soon as the opening credits came on we were impressed. What an array of great actors and actresses! We thought that this show must be good - for the producers to have employed so many excellent actors. It was! From the first few minutes we were hooked and we thoroughly enjoyed every episode of parts 1 and 2. It was a truly magnificent story. We never got bored at all all. The production, scripting and acting were all spot on. And as for the cinemaphotography and sets, well these were truly inspiring. The battle scenes were great. The American President Lincoln was portrayed as he was in real life - a humble man with a true sense of right and wrong. The series was both sensitive, moving, poignant and exciting with more than enough drama to keep anyone interested. Full marks to all who made this show. We know that sadly some of the original stars have passed away (especially the excellent Patrick Swayze) but we are looking forward to the third installment. Philip & Diane Edwards. North Wales. UK.
