Ford v Ferrari: Overall, an excellent movie. Knowing the outcomes, both for the race and the people actually made it better. Acting is excellent, main characters are portrayed brilliantly. Racing scenes? Not as good as Le Mans or Grand Prix, about as good as Rush, maybe. Too much Fast and Furious ridiculous gear shifting in absurd situations. (When you're racing on the banks at Daytona, presumably in 5th gear and flat out, shifting to 4th isn't going to help things!) To me, the highlight was the family relationship between the Miles family. Esp. knowing what will happen to Ken, it's wonderful foreshadowing without pretense or heavy handedness. Non racing people of our age who don't know the whole story will gasp. It was perhaps a scene or two too long, but they had to give Matt Damon his curtain call. A few historical liberties were taken to tighten up the drama, but hey, it's a movie, not a documentary. The liberties don't significantly change the story and keep the plot lines coherent. The biggest was to not give more credit to Phil Remington, the real genius behind the whole project.
To all my racing friends? GO SEE IT, wear your old racing duds and enjoy. There will be places you laugh when no one else does.
