I hate to write something negative but this is pretty unbelievable. Seems all that other people have said in the 1 star comments is true but what also stood out for me was - where was the boy's father??
He was expecting him all along and as far as I saw in the film, the mother never said not to and I kept hoping that in true Christmas style a happy ending for him to appear was going to happen. It didn't. There was no call or anything. Just portrays men again as terrible. I have never know this type of under the radar narrative being put forwards before.
I get that people don't have fathers that can be there or even do appear but this isn't needed in a Christmas film! At least I hoped for him to call and say he was stuck due to weather. Which is upsetting for the boy but there are other positives to focus on for him (even this I would say isn't great for a Christmas film, but as I said there are people without a parent, so they could include this narrative for them).
There are presents that are all received and a lot of people may watch this and have nothing, so why do this with the father scenario? Unfortunately, this is a narrative which is being pushed more and more and this must stop.
