Visually stunning except for a couple of scenes that are jarring but forgivable (but which could easily have been cut out). We're so used to stories having a clear protagonist and antagonist, a good side and evil side, that it's harder to get a hold on this film's narrative direction. Set in the post apocalyptic Mad Max world, there is no good or evil, only chaos and survival. Yet the film's pacing, shallow story, and weak character development fail to really capture either the chaos or the survival. And though Chris Hemsworth has a natural flare for comedy, and his character seems to have been intended to be funny, he has nothing funny to say, ever. He does at one point say something quite meaningful that would have been better used at the beginning of the film.
